Blackberry 8800 Review

Check out our latest Blackberry 8800 Review!

The Blackberry 8800 series of mobile phones have made quite an impact in the market since its launch. The mobile device from Research In Motion (RIM) is one of the thinnest of their handset range at 14mm and it comes with an individual key Qwerty keyboard and the ever so efficient blackberry trackball. It has an immense number of multimedia features installed in it. It also comprises of some attractive features like, microSD expandable memory support and a track ball navigation system. It looks slim and stylish and has a captivating range of colors available.

Core Blackberry functionality is maintained in the phone but has some enhanced working features too. This mobile phone provides useful tools for accessing the internet. E-mails, surfing, organizer, and instant messaging are some of the different features that can be directly accessed.

For enhanced access, BlackBerry 8800 series goes one step ahead by providing integrated GPS. Blackberry Maps takes tracking to another level and makes navigation easier.

In addition to these features, a latest version of the media player that allows you to play music and video files is available. A high capacity battery that retains charge for more than 500 hours makes it very useable. BlackBerry 8820 and BlackBerry 8830 from this series are more or less the same except for a few enhanced features in them.

BlackBerry 8820 has got Wi-Fi support and BlackBerry 8830 is perhaps the CDMA phone which can roam globally on GSM and GPRS networks thus giving this mdoel the popular World edition tag.

This BlackBerry 8800 series will attract the executive in the move who want an access to their office at all times. Those who give importance to a phones aesthetic value will also be attracted to the BlackBerry 8800 series.

The BlackBerry 8800 series also paves way for some additional features in it such as noise cancellation, individual voice recognition, smart dialing, blue tooth, mp3 ring tones and so on.

However in our Blackberry 8800 review, we did find some cons. One of the negative aspects of this mobile phone would be that not all models support Wi-Fi networks. It seems to be the first in a list of drawbacks of this BlackBerry 8800 series. The second one is that it does not support a camera. The third one being that there is no infrared available.

These would be the three key missing features, but other than that for those who do not prioritise these three aspects, this BlackBerry 8800 series would be the best option.

Feel the stylish change in you after this purchase!!!

Blackberry Pearl Review

The following Blackberry Pearl Review gives an overview of the smartphone’s specific features and pros/cons.

Overview

BlackBerry, the smartphone brand developed by Research in Motion (RIM), Canada introduced a new range of Smart phones under the brand “Pearl“series and the first of these smart phones were released on September 12th 2006.

BlackBerry’s smartphones that had been released until then were slightly larger in size and lacked the finesse of some of the top of the line mobile phones from major manufacturers. The main idea with the launch of the “Pearl” series of smartphones was to embody a sense of style, performance and sleekness to the otherwise dull looking BlackBerry smartphone portfolio. Coincidentally, the “Pearl” phones were the first Blackberry smartphones to incorporate a camera and a media player into the same phone.

Pearl Specifics

The “Pearl” line up from BlackBerry consists of four models at present, the BlackBerry Pearl 8100, 8110, 8120 and 8130. The “Pearl” series has a no compromise outlook on the features it offers, be it the crystal clear 2 megapixel camera with flash and 15x digital zoom (offered on the 8110/8120/8130), the state of the art GPS functionality integrated with BlackBerry Maps, the Wi-Fi Access or the voluminous storage space of up to 32 GB (8130) available on microSD cards.

With such high performance features in store, BlackBerry is clearly aiming at the mobile networker, one who needs features on the go, a smaller and cheaper alternative to a notebook, which would offer connectivity at the users fingertips. This phone also attracts the younger lot looking for a stylish package with easily internet connectivity. This phone particularly is touted as a female executive’s business package too.

Cons

For the first time, the “Pearl” phones employ a slightly modified QWERTY keypad that not only keeps the size of the phone in check, but also offers ease of operation. The chief achievement however, has been on the size front, where the dimensions of an average “Pearl” phone have been reduced to 4.2 x 1.97 x 0.55 inches and also making them lighter than ever before at a meager 90 grams. As with any product, this one has its share of criticisms, ranging from the exclusion of 3G/UMTS support offered by its manufacturers to the lack of a touch screen option, a feature which even some of the low key manufacturers are able to incorporate these days.

These cons notwithstanding, the advantages of the “Pearl” phones clearly seem to outweigh its disadvantages. Some claim its smaller size in comparison to the other blackberry phones to be its disadvantage. As a single mobile tool capable of empowering its user to connect to the world, it does its job, albeit with minor hiccups, with utmost satisfaction.

Blackberry Curve Review

The following blackberry curve review gives a general overview on the specifics and pros/cons of the current Blackberry Curve models.

The Blackberry curve range of handsets was launched in early 2007 with the 8300, followed by the 8310 in June and then the 8320 in September. The latest version is the 8330.

Standard specifications include regular features like:

  • Quad band
  • Bluetooth
  • Mp3
  • Email
  • Text messaging
  • A 2 mega pixel camera with flash and MicroSD expansion slots supporting up to 4 GB.
  • Video Recording

Additional Features include:

  • Mini USB port
  • Integrated GPS and Wi Fi connectivity.

Differences between the 8300, 8310, 8320, and 8330 are minimal and include different combinations of either GPS or WiFi capabilities.

Pros
The major reason for buying a Blackberry in most cases would be the push technology which helps the users receive e-mails on the go. The most effective user of this technology, the Blackberry device is the business executive who is pretty much on the move always. In addition, wireless connection features like supporting all 4 GSM frequencies, Bluetooth and Wi Fi on the 8320 make it perfect for travellers. And for those with little navigation skills, the integrated GPS device plays the perfect map. The very high security in the blackberry server system is another reason for any high level executive to get a blackberry. Apparently the system works such that even RIM, the creators of the Blackberry, cannot access the emails of customers!

The phone’s lightweight design is perfect for business travelers on the go who still desire a full QWERTY keyboard for easy typing.

Cons
Some gripes still exist though. The functionality of the phone is still not wide ranged and hence word processing applications are better used in other smart phones than the Curve. Similarly, the absence of 3G does weigh a lot.

Yet the Blackberry curve series has pretty much all the basic functions and the higher models in the range provide additional features. So as a mobile connectivity device it is pretty much perfect.

The 2.0 megapixel camera with flash, self portrait mirror, and 5x digital zoom makes for acceptable picture quality and basic video capabilities as well. The media player solves the music and videos issue as well. The Curve is an improvement over the previous generations of Blackberry’s where they all had dull lifeless color displays. The Display is finally a gorgeous mix of bright and sharp colours. It makes for a really good partner in around the world trips.

Overall, the curve provides an excellent mix of business capabilities with lightweight design and personal functionality.
